Meet Coach Jeri. New to the organization for the 2024-2025 season, Coach Jeri is a dynamic and dedicated softball coach with years of experience under her belt. She is keen to give back to the sport and also provide guidance, mentorship and encouragement to our U13 players. This is clear based on her enthusiastic attitude, positive spirt and strong history of playing and coaching competitive softball -- not to mention -- her technical knowledge of the sport as well.
Coach Jeri is passionate about cultivating the personal and athletic growth of each of her players. She believes in the power of positive reinforcement and always encourages her players to push their limits while celebrating their successes. Some of her playing and coaching highlights include:
Playing Highlights: Coach Jeri started playing community softball at the age of 10 with the Silver Springs Community in Calgary. This led to many achievements including: Double Diamond, Team Alberta, Western Canada Summer Games, a Kennesaw State University Fast Pitch Scholarship, NCAA Div 2 National Championship, KSU Hall of Fame, Multiple Provincial and National Championship appearances and medals, and a Gold Medal Ladies Slo-Pitch National Championship.
Coaching Highlights: Coach Jeri's initial coaching started with pitching lessons right after university. Then, she went on to coach an Adult Mixed Fast Pitch team. After a hiatus from ball to build a career, it was time to build a family. Once her children were able to swing a bat, she got involved coaching T-ball and Coach Pitch Divisions at Centennial Little League before switching gears to Fast Pitch with Nose Creek Community Association.
Coaching Philosophy: Coach Jeri believes in harnessing the energy and determination from young players to propel them into better athletes. She believes this is done through positive field attitude, hard work and perfecting the skills of the game. Through routines, focused practices, and team building, Coach Jeri believes we can achieve incredible outcomes multiple times over. She's a goal focused coach, so when players are achieving their goals, they have meaning. And, when learning and developing is part of the process, there is enjoyment. Eventually, her players will reach their goals, learn a lot, and are happy, which is what will bring them so much joy in the sport of softball!
We're very proud and honoured to have someone like Coach Jeri involved with the Kaizen organization.
