Introducing Coach Darrell

Coach Darrell is a dedicated mentor and enthusiast deeply rooted in the world of Fastpitch Softball, bringing a wealth of experience both on and off the field. He is Competitive Intro Certified and known for his unwavering commitment to developing athletes through hard work, inclusion, and fun.


Coaching Highlights

Passionate about coaching softball, Coach Darrell has made significant impacts during his four years on the bench. In 2023, he served as Kaizen’s Head Coach for the U13 Black team, leading the girls to an impressive Bronze Medal finish at both Provincials and GPLS, along with two Gold medals in other tournaments that season.

In 2024, Coach Darrell returned as Head Coach and led his team to a Provincial Gold Medal at the U13 level, capping off a dominant season.

Building on that success, he took on a first-year U15 squad for the 2025 season and earned the team a spot at the Canadian Western Championships, continuing his track record of development and competitive excellence.


Playing Highlights

Before transitioning to coaching, Darrell enjoyed a decorated playing career at the highest levels of Fastpitch Softball across Canada and the United States. His achievements include:

  • 3x Canadian Fastpitch Gold Medalist

  • 6x All-Canadian Team Selections

  • 1x Most Valuable Player Award

  • ISC World Fastpitch Gold Medalist

  • ASA US Men’s Fastpitch Nationals Gold (with All-Star selection)

  • Pan-Am Games Gold Medalist as a key member of the Canadian Men’s National Team


Coaching Philosophy

Coach Darrell is passionate about giving back to the game that has given him a lifetime of experiences and friendships. His coaching philosophy is built around creating a positive and inclusive environment where athletes, coaches, and families feel connected and committed.

He emphasizes accountability, work ethic, and high standards, ensuring that every athlete grows not only in skill but in confidence and character. He strives to make every practice the best two hours of a player’s day.

Above all, Coach Darrell aims to guide his athletes in setting meaningful goals, achieving them, and walking away from each season with a deeper love for the game.


Personal

Coach Darrell is a proud father of two daughters and represents the West Hill Community Association, continuing to lead both on and off the field with integrity, energy, and heart.
