U15 Green - Cassandra Edwards

Meet Coach Cass, an impressive seasoned softball coach, whose journey started out as a well-respected softball player, playing at a highly competitive level, and then she turned into an equally respected softball coach and leader. For the past 13 years, she has been the former Head and Assistant Coach of the SAIT Trojans and we are thrilled that she has decided to join Kaizen this year.

Coaching Highlights

With a coaching history dating back to 2007, Coach Cass has left an indelible mark on the softball landscape. Having served as both the Head and Assistant Coach of the SAIT Trojans since 2010, Coach Cass has been a guiding force in the development of athletes, contributing to the success of various teams over the years. As a dedicated pitching instructor, Coach Cass has been instrumental in honing the skills of aspiring pitchers, sharing insights garnered from years of playing and coaching.

Playing Highlights

Coach Cass’s playing history began with South Bow River community association. She later went on to play for the SAIT Trojans, Red Deer Sliders, GASP Rockies, and GASP Mavericks. A true aficionado of the game, Coach Cass played in the first-ever Canadian Collegiate Nationals and holds the distinction of being a founding member of the AIWFA, now Western Canadian Softball Association (WCSA). The WCSA is the governing body for eight western Canadian collegiate softball teams in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan post-secondary schools.

WCSA teams include:

  • University of Calgary Dinos
  • Mount Royal University Cougars
  • Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Trojans

Coaching Philosophy

Coach Cass’s coaching philosophy is a testament to her approach to building successful teams. Believing in the symbiotic blend of hard work, fun, dedication, competition, sportsmanship, perseverance, disappointments, and victories, Coach Cass imparts a belief system to athletes that success is not just measured by wins, but by the journey and growth along the way.  Her strong emphasis on teamwork is the linchpin for success and underscores Coach Cass’s commitment to creating an environment where athletes thrive both on and off the field.

Coach Cass’s softball career includes, not only playing and coaching, but also contributing significantly to the SAIT Trojans' athletic department. She has a strong connection with SAIT and is willing to share her expertise and knowledge at the post-secondary level to all our athletes.

We are very proud and honoured to have someone like Coach Cass involved with the Kaizen organization.
