U17 Green - Wayne Ardiel
Introducing Coach Wayne, who has over 16 years coaching softball, and of those, 14 years with Kaizen. A familiar face from South Bow River community, Coach Wayne is recognized on the field and off, and has led many teams to Provincials, Westerns, and Canadian Championships.
Some of his coaching highlights include winning FOUR Gold Provincial Championships, one Silver and two Bronze. He’s also led many teams to the Western Canadian Championship, as well as, bringing home a Bronze medal on two occasions. His teams have also won other tournaments, including a Bronze at the 2023 GPLS Tournament.
But, softball isn’t the only thing he’s coached. Coach Wayne is a big supporter of curling as well. He’s coached his team to a Gold finish at the 2010 Alberta Winter Games for Curling, a Provincial Champion at the 2011 Canada Winter Games Trials, and a sixth place finish at the 2011 Canada Winter Games Participant. Clearly, he knows a thing or two about what it takes to win at a competitive and elite level.

As Coach Wayne continues to encourage and foster a safe and positive environment for his athletes, it’s clear that he’s willing to coach and encourage players that display tenacity, passion and determination to make it to the next level. He believes strongly in allowing all athletes to grow and improve to the best of their abilities and he fundamentally believes that teaching athletes the sport of softball, includes, respecting coaches, opponents, umpires, themselves and ultimately learning a few life lessons along the way.
